How to Transfer Away a Domain Name from ChemiCloud to FastComet

ChemiCloud is a relatively new player on the market, and as part of their web hosting service, they also offer domain name registration. They claim that if you register a brand new domain, they will renew your domain free of charge as long as you have an active hosting service with ChemiCloud. If you already have the perfect domain name, but you are not completely happy with Chemicloud as your hosting provider anymore — do not worry! You can transfer that domain to another registrar stress and hassle-free. One of the best aspects of switching your domain to FastComet is that you can control all of your domain's settings and billing from your FastComet account. You'll have everything you require in one location. You can also utilize the domain name as a Private DNS server, or you can use Google Apps to set it up.

Prepare to Transfer the Domain Safely and Easily
Before you proceed with the domain transfer, keep in mind that when a domain name is transferred from one registrar to another, the nameservers associated with it remain the same. If your domain uses Chemicloud's default nameservers, they will be kept during the domain transfer, so you won't be able to change them until the transfer is complete.
This means that if you change web hosting providers and your website is already migrated, ensure your domain name is directed to the new hosting provider before attempting a domain transfer. You won't be able to change the nameservers until the domain transfer is finished.
It's important to remember that domain registration and web hosting are two separate services. Your website will not be automatically migrated during the domain name transfer process. Review Domain Name Transfer Requirements
- Domain names must have been registered for more than 60 days to be eligible for transfer under ICANN's Transfer Policy. This 60-day registrar lock is in place to prevent domain theft and fraud.
- If you have transferred your domain in the last 60 days, you won't be able to do so again.
- In most cases, the domain name should be renewed at least 15 days before it expires.

You must first complete the procedures below before attempting to transfer a domain away from Chemicloud.
Steps to Transfer A Domain From Chemicloud
Start by logging into your Chemicloud account, which is where your domain is currently registered.
To transfer your domain to another registrar, follow these steps:
- Unlock the domain. For this purpose, log in to your Client Area → Dashboard → Domains:
- Click on Manage Domain next to the domain name you are interested in:
- Go to Registrar Lock:
- Change the status to Off and allow 24 hours for this change to propagate:
- Initiate the transfer at your new registrar and regularly check the administrative email for your domain.
You can find the valid administrative e-mail for your domain name by using the WHOIS lookup tool available here. You can also find and change the administrative e-mail when you go to Client Area → Dashboard → Domains → Manage Domain → Contact Information.
If you have ID Protection activated for your domain, and the gaining registrar fails to send a message to your administrative e-mail account, you should cancel it. This can be completed from your Client Area → Dashboard → Domains → Manage Domain → Addons. Allow up to several hours for the modification to propagate, and the real administrative e-mail account will be shown in the WHOIS lookup.
Until April 2021, one of the conditions for a domain transfer was to remove Domain ID Protection (also known as Domain Privacy, Private Registration, and so on). The requirement was in place because ICANN requires us to send a transfer verification email to the current registrant's email address when you move a domain name from another registrar to FastComet. If you start a domain transfer when your existing domain registrar's ID Protection is turned on, the transfer verification email is unlikely to arrive. That is no longer the case. When transferring your domain name, you no longer need to pause or off Domain ID Protection as of April 2021. The domain transfer can proceed even with ID Protection activated.
- Next, you will have to obtain the EPP Code for the domain transfer. You can do that by going Client Area → Dashboard → Domains → Manage Domain → Get EPP Code:

- Once you have chosen your starting plan with FastComet, you can click on the GET STARTED button:
- Next, choose the option “I already Have a Domain,” and then click on the USE THIS DOMAIN button:
Note:
Choosing I already Have a domain does not initiate the domain transfer. You need to do that additionally, as we explain further below in this post.
- You'll be sent to a screen where you must enter all of your contact and billing information. Make certain that all of the data is right. Please review our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy once you're ready. If you agree with our terms, check the box, and finish by clicking on the button COMPLETE ORDER:
Update the Nameservers to Point to FastComet
The transfer needs time to process. As your previous provider should release the domain to FastComet, it is a good idea to point your domain to the FastComet nameservers or via A record to the IP address provided to you in your Welcome email so that be able to start working on your website.
Changing your name servers while your domain is being transferred may cause the transfer to fail. Be sure that you have updated your name servers before the transfer begins so that your domain will be working as soon as possible.
With Chemicloud, you can do that by going to Client Area → Dashboard → Domains → Manage Domain → Nameservers:

Note:
When you make changes to your DNS, please allow up to 24 hours for propagation after making the change. Thus, we recommend performing no changes on your website during that time, as once the propagation is over, they may not be saved on the new server.
Submit a Domain Transfer Request to FastComet
We offer domain transfer services to all existing clients, as you may have noticed while purchasing your FastComet hosting plan. You have access to our user-friendly domain management interface after moving your domain to FastComet, and you may take complete control of your domain.
Please ensure that you have access to your domain administrator email address before beginning the transfer procedure. If you no longer have access to that email address, you can ask your current domain registrar to change it for you.
When you have done everything in this post up until now, and you are sure that all requirements are met, continue with the following steps:
- Login to your FastComet Client Area;
- Click on the Domain Transfer link under the Domains section in your Client Area:
- Input your domain and select your domain extension to check if the domain transfer is available for your domain:
If you don’t find your extension on the list, contact our technical support for further information. You can do that by submitting a new support ticket.
- If your domain is available for transfer, click on the Add to Cart button to proceed:
- Insert your Authorization (EPP) Code in the field shown in this screenshot:
- If all requirements for the successful domain transfer are met, you should receive your domain transfer confirmation email shortly.
Note:
After changing your domain name servers, the new ones will be set after the domain transfer is complete. Your domain will not be modified by our registrar during the transfer.
